2021 Wonderland Trail

Beautiful wildflowers sweep the landscape during the sunrise. Photo by Danny Seidman (www.sharetheexperience.org).
In August of 2021, Dan Berlin guided by Brad Graff and Charles Scott will attempt to be the first know blind athlete to circumnavigate around Mt. Rainier on the awe inspiring and extremely challenging 93-mile Wonderland Trail.   The team will average 31 miles and more than 9,000 ft of climbing per day over the 3 day run.  The Wonderland Trail circles the mountain just below the glacier line with 5 major river crossings and the ever unpredictable weather of a 14,000 ft mountain.

Dan parallels taking on endurance challenges like the Wonderland Trail to the experience of a student who is blind going to college for the first time.

Both are extremely exciting and intimidating.
There are few role models to follow and peers to connect with.
We have to learn to work as a team.
Both are a constant test of resourcefulness and adaptability.
And we are unsure of the outcome, that's why we accept the challenge.
