The Team See Possibilities logo has several meanings:

The 4 points represent the four founders:
Alison, Brad, Charles, and Dan

The word “compass” is derived from the latin:
com meaning ”together” + passus “ a step.”
The team has taken many steps together on their shared adventures and hopes to point others toward moving beyond perceived limitations.

The compass is a traditional hiking guide and tool, representing our outdoor endurance challenges.

Meet the Team

We are a team of 4 made up of blind endurance athlete Dan Berlin and his three guides Alison Qualter Berna, Brad Graff, and Charles Scott.

DAN BERLIN
Co-founder and CEO of Rodelle, a world leading vanilla extract company, Dan grew up in the chocolate town of Hershey, Pennsylvania and now lives in Fort Collins,Colorado with his wife and two children.  Over the course of twenty years, Dan gradually lost his eyesight from cone-rod dystrophy. He struggled with the limitations of his new reality, but instead of simply feeling sorry for himself, he came up with a new way to approach the rest of his life.

He decided, despite his blindness, to become a marathoner.  Dan has since run twelve marathons, including NYC and Boston, completed several triathlons, was the first blind athlete to run across the Grand Canyon and back, ran the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in less than 13 hours, and recently completed his greatest challenge to date: climbing to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in two and a half days.

BRAD GRAFF

Brad is a graduate of Harvard Business School, Vanderbilt University (Mechanical Engineering) and is a former Nuclear Power Naval Officer. He recently ended a 17-year career at Intel Corporation to increase his focus on helping others and pursue some lifelong passions.

A runner who has completed 20 marathons and half marathons, he recently added ultra marathons to the competitive mix. He has traveled to over 70 countries, and hopes to break 100 in the next 10 years.

ALISON QUALTER BERNA
Alison is a proud mother of three young children.  With her husband Bobby and partners Allison and Craig Schlanger, she co-founded apple seeds, an all-in-one children's play space with three locations based in New York City.  They are franchising their Children's Music Program, Songs for Seeds, which has over 30 locations nationwide. After graduating from Boston College, she worked in production at NBC News and then received a Masters Degree from Princeton University. She started and managed a global program in Sports for Development at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for 5 years (2001-2006).  She was a competitive high school athlete and still elicits “wows” from people who see her handstands and yoga practice.

She struggles, like all working moms, to balance career and life…let alone find the amount of time needed to train.  Alison was intimidated by the idea of guiding a blind athlete for the first time in the Grand Canyon, in her longest running distance, and on such complicated terrain.  For some of the lessons she learned, see
mamolade.com. For more on Alison’s background and happenings, visit appleseedsplay.com and songsforseeds.com.

CHARLES SCOTT

Charles left a 14-year career at Intel Corporation to found the Family Adventure Guy.  A National Geographic-featured adventurer and author of the book Rising Son: A Father and Son’s Bike Adventure Across Japan, he takes his two young children on endurance challenges around the world linked to charitable causes.

He and his children have cycled over 7,000 miles, including the length of Japan, the circumference of Iceland, across Western Europe and over the Rocky Mountains while following the Lewis & Clark Trail in the U.S.  He ran his first marathon at age 13, has completed six Ironman triathlons, and guided Dan in four marathons and a Half Ironman. For more details on Charles’s background visit  familyadventureguy.com
